In the previous version of Facebook, you need to go to settings for updating your life events. But the Facebook updated version has made sharing lifetime events at an ease. You can't find an option to post life event from your home timeline. You can only update the status with photos/videos, check-ins, feelings and much more by going through settings.

In order to add life event on Facebook, you need to open your Facebook profile where you can easily find a button to add life event as shown in the image below.

Once you click on it, various life event options are displayed which are categorized based on personal or professional (work) life. You can update event related to work & education, family & relations, home & living, health & wellness, and travel & experience. Each Life event has again sub-categories that help you to select the relevant option with an ease to share on your timeline.

For instance, if you are recently married. And excited about sharing your life event in your timeline, then you can select family and relationship option and go to Marriage life event.

Once you click on Marriage life event option, Facebook wants you to enter the event details. You can also enter a short story regarding your memorable photos/videos that you would like to share.

Additional to this feature, Facebook allows you to select the audience to see this event on your timeline. You can make your event to be seen by the public (those not on your Facebook friends list can also see it). Or you can make it visible to only your friends only. Or you can keep it for yourself (no one except you can see this life event including you friends on your Facebook).
